"Where the Gloops live, there grows a very special plant. This plant has not always been understood. In fact, once upon a time, the Old Kings wanted the plant gone forever.
Inside this little book is a BIG story about Molly, her family, and all of the Gloops who stood up for what they believed in, and won!
The world of the Gloops is not so very different from ours... So, maybe by learning about them, we can learn about us too!"
The Gloops and the Special Plant is a teaching tool for starting the conversation on what cannabis is, and what the end of it's prohibition means. It tells a parallel story to our own, while teaching about human rights and respect.

I was really pleased to discover this charming book! Having worked with children for 40 years, I praise the author for opening this socially tricky conversation. I admire that J.R. Fox chose not to mention the name of the plant. This is a boo that leaves parents totally free to discuss this plant and the social issues surrounding it in their own ways, according to the developmental stage of their child.Product details

The Gloops and the Special Plant edition by JR Fox Children eBooks Reviews
I do not know of this author, but they should have made a name for themselves with this ground breaking explanation of the values of this plant.
I live in Georgia, and Georgia has recently passed laws legalizing the use of medical marijuana. This book is wonderfully illustrated and explains the value of this plant which has been unfairly condemned . I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting more information about this plant, especially for younger readers.
This book is awesome and clever. The pictures make my son laugh! Highly recommended
Absolutely loved the message and it s clever delivery. The illustrations are fabulous as are the humor and content of the book. It is a great conduit for an explanation of the many positive uses for the special plant. Don't miss this read!
This was exactly what I needed. I'm so happy that I was introduced to this story. It's perfect for the simple introduction for a child to a plant that we all know and love. It's informative and fun and in a form that is very easy for a child to grasp. With the growing acceptance of this plant comes the growth of this industry, including more and more families that are now involved. What an amazing way for me to introduce my children to something that is a huge part of our lives. Even if you are not involved in this industry and you are looking for a way to inform your child in a fun way, this is a great way to do that. I am so happy with and appreciative of this book.
The times have changed, and parents need a book like this to open a conversation with their children about the "Special Plant".
The characters in this dialogue are beyond cute, and the illustrations are beautifully done. There is a deeper theme about freedom of thought, which should stimulate young minds. Also, this creative book is just plain fun.
The story is compelling and invites the readers to open minds. Although there is wisdom in caution, throughout history humans have formed prejudices which interfered with creativity and invention. All too often our thinking as a society is reduced to black and white, and rather than dialogue, there is only criticism. The topic of this book explores an area that is neither "all good", nor "all bad", and which should be approached with curiosity, and honest inquiry. There is the "special plant", which has its potentials for positive and negative. And there is the intriguing conflict between the Gloops and the "Old Kings". The illustrations are beautifully done, and the characters are adorable. Wonderful book!
I am so happy this book exists. The author did an amazing job distilling the nuances of the special plant's use into something a child can understand, but it never feels preachy or condescending in the slightest, which is a problem I've often had with books trying to teach kids about something controversial. This is very much a kids' book, which I loved.
The rhythm of the prose is natural and fun to read aloud, the illustrations are absolutely adorable. We got a copy of this book for our three year old, but I'm looking forward to reading it to her - and discussing the special plant - for years to come as she gains a more mature understanding of the subject matter.
Very grateful for this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone raising a little one in this changing world.
