Ugh. Terrible book. Honestly.75% of the book was Chloe and Lucca in a house together gardening and watching movies. When did Lucca become such a sensitive, obnoxious stalker? What happened to the tough mafia family man who everyone was afraid of? He spends this whole book cooking for Chloe and teaching her to garden. Wow. The last 25% of the book did have some minor revenge on the people that hurt Chloe, but even that was watered down and lame. I wish I could get my $5 back. The only decent book in this series was Nero.

Lucca Made Men Book 4 edition by Sarah Brianne Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
So glad I found this author! I have reread this book 4 times that’s how good it is. We finally get to see what makes Lucca tick and what draws him to Chloe. I love her characters because they aren’t perfect they are gritty and real and sink under your skin not letting go. No wasted words and editing is perfect so nothing to distract you from the story sucking you in. You find out Lucca is not just a 2 sided character. He is more than the underboss. He cares when it matters and is ruthless and smart when he needs to be. Don’t get me wrong he is who he is and don’t expect him to change because of Chloe. This story has mystery, action, death and answers. Pick it up now. I can’t wait for Marie’s story. I’m dying to read that one.
This book felt more "in the spirit" of the first one, Nero. Brooding and intense. Having said that, after reading thru "part one", Chloe, by Lucca you're seriously getting tired of Chloe's neurosis. What she went thru was horrible, and closely followed by bullying at school and an indifferent home life, I do understand why she turned out like she did. However, despite her inner monologues about wishing she could be different, she never is. Complete deer in the headlights, every time. And her best friend, Elle, not ONCE suggests that she seek help to deal with what happened, she just enables her helplessness.
Now Lucca, he pushes Chloe to deal with it, to get beyond it, and that was the saving grace of this book. And honestly, the over the top machismo coming from the male leads of this series is MUCH more believable coming from an older man like Lucca than an 18 or 19 yr old like Nero or Vincent. Worth the read, and definately worth the price.
I thought this would be a much better book than it was. It really lacked...I don't know, it was just a big disappointment. I loved Nero, tolerated Vincent, felt ripped off with Chloe and now Lucca just "eh". I won't be wasting anymore time or money on any of her future books.
*spoilers throughout ** GREAT read! One of my favorite books to re-read!! If you like Mafia books then this is for you! (I rarely give 5 stars and only for the most exceptional reads.) No cheating, HEA, can be read as a stand-alone.
Lucca Caruso is more than a made man and a mob underboss. He is a mold that is not so easily defined. His father is the boss of the Kansas City Caruso family and Luca (underboss) will one day take his place. He could be boss now and makes it clear to his father at one point that the men would follow him and it’s only by Luca’s choice that he hasn’t already forcibly taken the job from his father.
Lucca is easily a psychopath, which isn’t unusual, I guess, for people in his line of work and he even admits to himself that the same darkness in him is also in the horrible villain in the story. His mother, before she died, saw the darkness and worried what it would make of him. That darkness and the fact that Chloe Masters is the only thing that can save him from letting it completely take him over says just how dangerous he truly is and he knows it. He knows his soul is empty and he’s on the brink of becoming the worst kind of person possible—without a soul or conscience and a consummate killer. A psychopath.
Chloe saves him. Though he appears to “care” for his father, brothers and sister, he makes it clear that “caring” is fluid for him. He could easily kill all of them because he’s almost that far gone—then he sees HER and everything changes. His black heart loves Chloe instantly. His almost non-existent soul cries out for her. All of his emotions are for HER. She changes him, makes him almost human. He would do anything, give up everything for her. Not for a moment does he think she will be better off without him and he kidnaps her as a way to save her—which does save her life. He has no choice to take her and wait for her. He gives her time in the book before this called CHLOE. (Suggest reading that book before this one since it gives insight to his thoughts and actions leading up to this book.)
It’s fortunate that Chloe falls in love with him too or else he would most likely become an absolute villain by taking her anyway and destroying the man she did love. Whew! Close call that! But the fact that she IS in love with him, too, makes it an absolutely fantastic love story!!!
He is sweet, patient and kind with Chloe. He is ruthless with everyone else. We see a side of Lucca that almost seems impossible, as well. He gardens with her and loves cooking for her. He wants to take care of her and gives to her that tiny scrap of humanity left inside him.
Lucca is a complex character and Chloe is a broken, damaged character. Both characters evolve in the story-she becomes stronger and he becomes softer (at least to her).
She is his only weakness and he doesn’t care that wanting her makes him appear weak. Nothing matters except Chloe. He will take over and change the Caruso Family to mold it the way he needs it to be so that he can keep her. He knows her not being of Italian descent means he will have to make a choice at one point and all made men pick the Family. Not him. Oh no. No choice at all. It’s laughable to think there is one. He will destroy the family before he loses her. He, Nero and Vincent agree to change the family before given the choice because they are made men. They are the Caruso Family—bad to the bone, but they will absolutely not give up the women they love. They will have it all with Luca leading the way.
I read the next book in the series, which was good, but none of the books can top Lucca’s story because he is so complex. I hope to read about Lucca and Chloe in future novels, maybe even a novella letting us know what happens next. Please, author, give us more Lucca and Chloe. They are so very fascinating!!
I have been waiting for this book for a while. It was great read. I read LUCCA over the week. Gone are the days of reading a book in one sitting. I loved it. It could have been a little longer. But it was perfect character development for me. I don't understand the bad reviews. I am very picky about the books that I choose to read. I don't have the time to waste with bad books and bad editing. This was perfect. I think that LUCCA was dark and stayed true to his character.
This was not a high school romance novel. This was a grown up real world. I was afraid that Chloe was to young for LUCCA but because of her experiences, she had to grow up fast. She was timid and scared of everything. I usually like someone with a little more backbone. With time throughout the book it became evident that she was coming out of her shell.
This can not be the same person that wrote Nero and Vincent. Those first 2 books were great, this one not so much. It seemed like she was writing a paranormal character for Lucca. His eyes changed from cold blue to green, his skin was cold or icy and his breath was cold......ummm is he a corpse? Because no one has ever had cold breath. Most ALL of the book is just their thoughts. Very little dialogue. Overall was extremely boring and definitely not worth the price she’s asking.
Ugh. Terrible book. Honestly.
